Two-story home with a white picket fence along a landscaped front yard

Port St. Lucie Fence Company is a fence contractor based in Port St. Lucie, Florida. We install vinyl, aluminum, wood, chain link and pool fences, hang and repair gates, and fix or replace fences that have leaned, rotted or come down in a storm, for homes and businesses across St. Lucie County and the north end of Martin County.

Building fences on the Treasure Coast since 1962

We are a family-owned business, and we have been building fences on the Treasure Coast and around Lake Okeechobee since 1962, which makes us one of the longest-running fence companies in the region. The family still runs it today, and the people who measure your yard and write your price are part of that same small team.

We are licensed and insured in St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, Palm Beach, Okeechobee, Highlands, Hendry and Glades counties. A permit clerk on our staff handles the city and county paperwork for every fence, so you are not the one chasing approvals. We also run our own shop, which is where custom and estate gates get designed and put together before they come out to your property.

Why a company that only builds fences

A fence looks like the simplest thing on a property, and most of the problems we get called out to fix started because somebody treated it that way. A post that went in eighteen inches deep in loose sand, a vinyl run that ignored the slope of the yard, a pool gate that swings the wrong way and no longer latches on its own. Each of those is a small decision made quickly on install day, and each one shows up a year or two later.

Keeping our work to fences means the same small set of jobs gets done over and over, by people who know where they go wrong. We do not pour driveways, screen lanais or paint houses between fence jobs. When you call, you are talking to people whose whole week is post holes, panels, gates and permit packets.

What the ground here does to a fence

Most of Port St. Lucie sits on fine, sandy soil with water close to the surface in the rainy months. Sand drains well, but it gives very little grip to a post that has only been tamped in, and a privacy fence acts like a sail when a summer squall or a tropical storm pushes against it. That is why every structural post we set goes into concrete, sized to the height of the fence, and why the holes on a six-foot privacy run go deeper than the bare minimum.

The other local problem is water. Many lots in the city back onto canals and drainage swales, and many have utility or drainage easements along the rear and side lines. We read the survey before we lay anything out, so a fence does not end up blocking a swale, sitting inside an easement without the right paperwork, or crowding a canal bank that the drainage district needs to reach.

How a job runs, start to finish

It starts with a visit. Someone comes to the property, walks the line with you, notes where gates need to go, checks the grade and looks for sprinkler heads, trees and anything buried. You see samples of the materials in daylight, which matters with vinyl and aluminum colors. You get a written price that covers the whole job, including tear-out of an old fence if there is one.

Once you approve it, we put the permit application together with your survey and any HOA approval, and we place the utility locate request so buried lines are marked before a single hole is dug. Most residential fences are built in a day or two. Before the crew leaves, we walk the finished fence with you, open and close every gate, and haul away the offcuts and the old material.

How we put a price together

Fences are priced by the foot, and we measure rather than guess from an aerial photo. The number depends on the material, the height, the number of corners and end posts, the gates, the ground, and whether an old fence has to come out first. Gates are priced on their own because a five-foot walk gate and a twelve-foot double drive gate are very different pieces of work.

Your quote lists those pieces so you can see where the money goes and change the plan if you want. If a cheaper material would do the job, we will say so. Our fence price guide shows the typical ranges we see around Port St. Lucie, so you have a sense of the number before anyone comes out.

Things we won't do

  • We will not start digging before the utility locate is marked, even when a homeowner is in a hurry.
  • We will not set structural posts without concrete to save an hour.
  • We will not build a pool barrier that does not meet the Florida pool barrier rules, whatever the gate looks like.
  • We will not put a fence inside a drainage easement or across a swale without the approval it needs.
  • We will not add surprise charges after the work is done. If something unexpected turns up in the ground, we stop and talk to you first.

Who calls us

Most of our work is for homeowners: a first privacy fence around a new build in Tradition, a pool barrier before the grandkids visit, a dog run, a replacement for a wood fence that has finally given up. We also work with landlords and property managers who need repairs done quickly between tenants, HOAs replacing common-area fencing, and small businesses that need a secure yard or a dumpster enclosure.

We cover all of Port St. Lucie, including St. Lucie West, Tradition, Torino, Sandpiper Bay and the neighborhoods along the river, plus Fort Pierce, Stuart, Jensen Beach and Palm City.

Straight answers to the usual questions

Do you handle the permit? Yes. The application, the marked-up survey and the inspection request are part of the job. Our Port St. Lucie fence permit guide explains what the city asks for.

Do you fix fences you did not build? Yes. Repairs on any brand of vinyl, aluminum, wood or chain link are a large part of the work, and we will tell you honestly if a section is worth fixing or due for replacement.

What does it cost to get a quote? Nothing. The visit and the written price are free, and there is no obligation.
