Aluminum is the fence to choose when you want a secure boundary without losing the view. A 4-foot black aluminum fence costs about $30–$50 per foot installed in Port St. Lucie and a 5-foot run about $34–$55 per foot. It is powder-coated, it will not rust, and with the right picket spacing it doubles as a code-compliant pool barrier.
Where aluminum makes the most sense here
Port St. Lucie is crossed by canals and dotted with retention lakes, and a lot of homes back straight onto water. A solid fence on those lots blocks the reason you bought there. Aluminum pickets close in the yard for children and dogs while you still see the water from the lanai. It is also the common choice for front yards, where city and HOA rules often keep fences low and open, and around pools.
Near the coast and along the river, salt in the air eats at steel and cheap hardware. Aluminum does not rust, and a good powder coat holds its finish in the sun for many years.
Grades and styles
- Residential grade is the usual choice for yards and pools: lighter pickets, 4 to 5 feet tall.
- Commercial grade uses heavier pickets and rails for HOA entrances, common areas and places that see more abuse.
- Flat top, pressed spear or finial top. Flat top is the most popular around homes; spear tops add security and a more formal look.
- Puppy pickets. Extra pickets along the bottom so small dogs cannot slip between them.
Built to stand on a canal bank
Many canal lots have a drainage or maintenance easement along the water, so where the fence can go is a survey question before it is a design question. We mark the line from your survey and stay out of the easement unless you have the approval to build there. Posts are set in concrete, and on sloped banks the panels are racked to follow the ground so the bottom gap stays even.
What changes the price
Height, grade, picket spacing, the top style, the number of gates and whether the ground is level all move the number. Pool-code gates with self-closing hinges and magnetic latches cost more than plain walk gates: plan on $450–$1,100 each. See every row in the price guide.
About these prices: treat these aluminum figures as estimates. Grade, height and gates change them, and the written quote after the site visit is what counts.
