What moves the price on a Port St. Lucie fence
- Footage and corners. Price is per foot, but every corner, end and gate post adds cost. An L-shaped yard costs more per foot than a straight run.
- Height. Going from 4 to 6 feet adds material and wind load, which means deeper holes and more concrete.
- Canal, lake and easement lines. Where an easement keeps the fence off the back line, the layout changes, and sometimes the footage with it.
- Slope and soil. Stepping panels down a grade, or digging around roots and old concrete, takes longer.
- Tear-out. Removing and hauling an old fence adds about $3–$8 per foot.
- HOA requirements. Some communities specify a color, style or grade that costs more than the basic option.
- Gates. Priced individually: a walk gate $350–$900 each, a double drive gate $900–$2,500 each.
Worked examples
Backyard privacy, Tradition. 180 feet of 6-foot white vinyl with one walk gate and one 10-foot double gate: roughly $7,000 to $13,300.
Canal lot, original city. 140 feet of 4-foot black aluminum with a pool-code gate: roughly $4,650 to $8,100.
Dog run on a big lot. 300 feet of 4-foot galvanized chain link with two walk gates: roughly $4,900 to $8,400.
Why local quotes disagree
Two fence quotes for the same yard can differ by thousands, and the cheaper one is not always the better deal. The usual gaps are post depth and concrete (some installers tamp posts in sand), the grade of vinyl or aluminum, whether gate posts are reinforced, whether old-fence removal is included, and whether the permit and survey work are in the price or billed later. Ask every company to list those items. Ours always are.
Prices by area
Our pricing is the same across the city and the towns we serve. Fence work in Fort Pierce, Stuart and Jensen Beach is quoted the same way, though local permit fees and rules differ. For what the city asks before you build, read the fence permit guide.
