Port St. Lucie Fence Company installs and repairs fences throughout Fort Pierce. We build vinyl privacy fences, black aluminum, wood and chain link, hang gates, fix storm damage, and handle the City of Fort Pierce permit. Pricing is the same as in Port St. Lucie: a 6-foot vinyl privacy fence runs about $32–$55 per foot installed.
Fencing an older city
Fort Pierce has been the St. Lucie County seat since 1905, and a lot of its housing is older than anything in Port St. Lucie. Narrow lots around downtown and in neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, mid-century block homes on the west side, and big rural parcels out toward the citrus land all need different fences. On older lots the first job is often finding the true property line, because an old fence may have been put up on a guess decades ago and a neighbor's fence may sit on yours.
Many of the fences we replace here are worn-out wood or rusted galvanized chain link. A lot of owners swap them for vinyl, or for black vinyl-coated chain link where they want to keep costs down without the bare-metal look.
Near the lagoon and the inlet
East of US-1, along the Indian River Lagoon and out toward the inlet and South Hutchinson Island, salt air shortens the life of steel hinges, cheap screws and galvanized fittings. Near the water we steer people toward aluminum and vinyl with stainless or coated hardware. On waterfront lots, check the survey for easements and setbacks before deciding where the line goes.
Storms and the north county
Fort Pierce has taken more than its share of wind. Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne both came ashore on Hutchinson Island south of the city in September 2004, three weeks apart, and in October 2024 tornadoes spun off Hurricane Milton struck the Spanish Lakes area just north of the city. After a storm, the calls are usually for privacy fences laid flat, posts snapped at the ground and gates torn off. We clear the old fence, rebuild on the same line and give you an itemized estimate for the insurance claim. See fence repair and storm damage.
Fort Pierce permits
Fence permits inside Fort Pierce go through the city, not Port St. Lucie, and the city's planning staff look at the location before the building permit is issued. Larger jobs need a Notice of Commencement at a lower dollar threshold than in Port St. Lucie. Properties just outside the city limits fall under St. Lucie County instead. We work out which one applies to your address and file it. The Port St. Lucie permit guide shows how the process generally runs.
